oh yeah scroll up on that page
I’ve created a new website. It’s about something some friends and I are developing. I want to constantly be adding news of how we are progressing. Having to keep changing the website completely everytime I have more news is too much work.
What is a good program to use that will allow me to do this with content? I have my site hosted on godaddy. I want to put something in my html sites in one of the bodies so it will automatically take info from a database and post it there. Than as I add new info, it shows up on my site. I don’t want to have to make a whole new site by using something like wordpress. What type of program can I use that will allow me to take info from a database and put it to my site. Godaddy has over 20 sql spaces so if I need a specific database program, I can add it.
I use dreamweaver CS3 for my webpages and I would also like it if people can get an RSS to my news.
Here is an exmaple of a website I wish to have like mines.
http://www.afterworld.ru/
You can see it shows the latest news and a RSS feed button. As they ad new info, the last one of the page goes onto page 2 and the new one is on top of page one.
Thank You :D
Im a student, and and apart of my course studying web developing. My skills in Html/css are very good and I’m still learning php – everything hand coded. As Im gaining more confidence and doing small side projects for clients, i also notice that heaps of websites are using some sort of CMS now. I always feel like im getting one step further then one step back Now i dont know if what Im doing is the right way, and its kind of anoying knowing that I learn all these skills and most are using software. Am I doing things the right way or should I be using wordpress or drupal for everything

“Peak Oil is a Myth”
E. A. Blair on February 28, 2010
Excerpts:
“From the moment oil first made it into the mainstream, peak oil and the imminent depletion of fossil fuels have been vehemently predicted.
A by-no-means exhaustive list of those predictions might run something like this:
“I take this opportunity to express my opinion in the strongest terms, that the amazing exhibition of oil which has characterized the last twenty, and will probably characterize the next ten or twenty years, is nevertheless, not only geologically but historically, a temporary and vanishing phenomenon – one which young men will live to see come to its natural end” (1886, J.P. Lesley, state geologist of Pennsylvania).
“There is little or no chance for more oil in California” (1886, U.S. Geological Survey).
“There is little or no chance for more oil in Kansas and Texas” (1891, U.S. Geological Survey).
“Total future production limit of 5.7 billion barrels of oil, perhaps a ten-year supply” (1914, U.S. Bureau of Mines).
“Reserves to last only thirteen years” (1939, Department of the Interior).
“Reserves to last thirteen years” (1951, Department of the Interior, Oil and Gas Division).
There comes a point, however — and we reached it long ago — when one needs to stop swallowing these scare-mongering scenarios.
The history of humankind is replete with false prognostications.
We already know where to find centuries’ worth of coal – global deposits hold 200,000 Quads. Oil shale deposits hold 10 Million Quads; heavy oils are already being extracted by brute force from the Canadian Athabasca deposits, and bioengineered bacteria could make the earth’s vast deposits of these oils economically accessible everywhere within a decade or less. Even more abundant is the energy locked up within uranium and other radioactive elements. The world’s oceans contain over 10 trillion Quads’ worth of deuterium, a fuel that we will in due course learn to unlock with nuclear fusion. And nothing very fundamentally new will be required to unlock it (Ibid).
Energy begets energy.
The more energy we use, the better we become at developing, extracting, and refining ever more.
Stopping or even slowing the use of fossil fuel would not, contrary to what you’ve been told, solve this (non-existent) fossil fuel problem: on the contrary, it would bring progress to a grinding halt; but even more than that, it would do so by shutting down the conceptual mind, which is the uniquely human method of survival.
It would blast us back to the stone age.
Which is precisely what many environmentalists, especially those of the better informed variety, want.”

I want to start my very own website but like many of us, am short on cash. I understand if you want the good stuff, you should be ready to pony up the cash. All I want is a host company that has at least 2 databases, php, at least able to point to 2 domains, phpmyadmin (not really that necessary but desired), decent storage and bandwidth. I don’t really know what is the norm. Oh, yeah linux based. None of that windows crap for me thank you very much.
On a slightly off topic, it’s funny that I’ve been developing many sites for other people but am pretty naive when it comes to hosting. Personally, I want to have one site for a wordpress blog (who doesn’t these day, huh?) and another for a web application I want to build. Initially it will be more for testing purposes so that I can become familiar with symfony. From my digging around Bluehost seems good. Anyway, that’s my story so I hope those with more experience can help me out. And I BETTER not see any referrals on those links.
The leading General in the Russian Army stated that if the USA installed defensive missiles in Poland, it would be provocation worthy of a Russian nuclear attack on Poland. You are not being a racist by wanting what is best for our country.
I have spent the last year and several months developing a content management in PHP. It technically was finished a long time ago, and I continued to go back and revise it, a few times from the ground up.
I originally intended to use this for personal sites here and there, as most other CMS’ I’ve used were large, bloated, and very resource intensive ( Joomla for example ). Though I loved Joomla, I just can’t afford to use it anymore with more than one site on VPS hosting.
The CMS I made now is kind of like a mixture between Joomla, WordPress and Drupal; all the best rolled into one much smaller package. So far from testing, it runs faster than either of the three listed and has most all the same features. It can be extended with components and plugins very easily ( like Joomla, but much, much easier ), supports SEF out of the box with complete control over URL structure, etc. It has alot of useful features I didn’t find in either package as well; resources to create and maintain backups of site settings and database, etc.
I have spent so much time optimizing ( about the last 6 months on optimizing alone ) and page caching. A cached page generates one database query by default, a non cached page generates two ( this is before or after logging in ).
Not to mention, the CMS by default has alot of Ajaxed features. The admin ( in which you can rename and relocate for security ) has alot of nice Ajax for managing, adding pages, etc. It also has a forum component that natively integrates with the CMS, which too uses some good Ajax implementation.
So far it runs REALLY good, I am thoroughly impressed with the final product. My question is, since I am in need of money and don’t want to sell the script ( it WILL be open source ), what is the best way to make a profit from Open Source without making it a commercial product? Do ads like Adsense really do any good? Those interested probably will know exactly what the ads are and definetly won’t click them, so how else can you make money from such a product?
Obama’s Plan for your defense
TODAY is the day that a leading General in the Russian Army stated that if the USA installed defensive missiles in Poland , it would be provocation worthy of a Russian nuclear attack on Poland . This is absolutely shocking & reprehensible. He plans to unilaterally disarm our nation. The question is… for what? And more specifically, for whom ?!!!!!!!!
mommanuk….those are his own words…sorry you couldn’t hear them. Oh, did he flip-flop again?
Sorry River…I never drank the koolaid, maybe that’s why I can still see through him. Speak for yourself.
Me, Too….What happens when Obama disarms our country and the radical Islamists decide to attack us again…should we try to talk them out of it, or should we just lay down and die?
The reason disarmament won’t work is because even if we got other countries to agree to it, they wouldn’t hold to that promise. Our enemies would be the first to take advantage of our weakened situation. It woud ave been nice if nuclear weapons & WMD’s had never been invented, but since they have, there is no going back. We can’t just disarm and leave or country vulnerable. That would be gross stupidity.
zackadoo….
Well, Mr. Perfect…if we’re going to pick on each other’s spelling & grammar let me point out that you… misspelled ‘bankruptcy’, ‘threats’ (plural), ‘Czechoslovakia’, ‘Poland’s', ‘what’s', ‘Muslim’, ‘bizarre’, ‘Poland’ (not capitalized in several places), ‘we’re’, and it’s ‘misspelled’, not mis-spelled.
Oh, well!
I am developing a blogging engine for an online web system. I’ve checked out blogspot, wordpress, freewebs, etc., and have implemented many ideas based on those systems. But what features would you like to have? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks!
Responses —————–
Lawn Gnome: That’s an interesting idea. It seems a little beyond the scope of the blogging engine itself, but would be useful…
Yudisaja: Currently, users can input their own title, pagename, description and keywords. There is also a built-in sitemap.
Blogger:
It’s written in PHP. I wouldn’t want to use a pre-made blogging engine, as it is part of a larger web system, which also includes forums, wikis, and standard website formats.
Thanks, ya’ll.

http://twilit.wordpress.com/2008/08/13/gymnast-controversies/
The Olympics have been amazing to watch so far, whether it’s Michael Phelps swimming towards his goal of eight gold medals or stunning gymnastic performances by the Americans and the Chinese. However, I am sick of the Karolyis’ substance-lacking attacks and general disrespect.
Undoubtedly, everyone has already heard the Karolyis’ claims of the Chinese gymnasts being underage. Marta Karolyi claims that one of the “half people” has a “missing tooth.” First of all, one has to ask why she was obsessing over teeth in the first place. Secondly, was she really close enough or in any position to see a tiny little gap? Of course, the gap would have to be minuscule considering how these were “little bitty baby teeth.” Quote courtesy of her husband Bela Karolyi, fellow teeth examiner. He also mockingly suggests that the Chinese competitors look like they might still be “in diapers.” A very mature comment.
Third of all, it’s completely possible that if a tooth really was missing, it was knocked out during a practice session. And fourth, I myself am sixteen in American years (in China I would be seventeen since traditionally, a year is added because of the gestation time in the womb) and still have baby teeth. Fifthly, the Chinese government has provided passports to the International Olympic Committee, confirming the age of the gymnasts.
Throughout the history of the Olympics, if any whiners would care to look, the Chinese gymnasts have always been of small stature. Perhaps, their bodies simply develop differently from those in the Western world. How many times have you heard jokes about Asians being short? The average height of the Chinese girls team is 144.33 cm, average weight 35.00 kg. Let’s look at the Japanese team. An average height of 146.67 cm, average weight 37.33 kg. Hardly any difference, and yet the Japanese aren’t being targeted. Of course, they’re also not in standing to win Olympic gold.
Coach Lu makes a fair point. “It’s unfair that people keep saying the Chinese are too young to compete. If they think they can tell someone’s age just by looking at them, well, if you look at the foreign athletes, they have so much more muscles than the Chinese. They are so strong. Do you then say that they are doping?”
Now let’s look at the history of Bela Karolyi, who has repeatedly come under controversy in his career as a coach in Romania for his score protests and conduct at Olympic games. In America, Kristie Phillips and Erica Stokes (Karolyi’s former athletes) have publicly stated that Karolyi was verbally and psychologically abusive. There were his constant critical remarks about weight that resulted in gymnasts developing eating disorders and low self-esteem.
In one interview, Dominique Moceanu noted: “If you were injured, Bela didn’t want to see it.” His gymnasts were compelled to continue training and competing even when dealing with serious injuries. Moceanu also stated that gymnasts under Karolyi were limited to consuming as little as nine hundred calories a day during competitions. Karolyi supporters have grudgingly admitted that at times, his gymnasts ate so sparingly that members of the men’s gymnastics team smuggled food to them in their hotel rooms.
Bela Karolyi has also been harshly criticized for working “babies” to the point of exhaustion, becoming famous by coaching fourteen-year-old Nadia Comaneci in 1976. Back then he argued abolishing the age limit with “Where would this sport be without Nadia?” In his own situation, the medals at the end justified the means. New tactic now. Accuse the Chinese and say that the only way to get rid of “cheating” would be to abolish said age limit. And this is the sort of person we are quoting and rallying behind?
The American gymnasts here are not at all sore losers. They simply had a bad day and I completely sympathize with Alicia Sacramone, who had an unsuccessful jump onto the balance beam and fell down in the floor routine. Other than that, they were amazing. Sacramone took responsibility and her fellow team members congratulated competitors and now prepare for the individual events. The same cannot be said for the Karolyis or the newscasters.
Marta Karolyi immediately changed gears after the falls: suddenly Sacramone had waited too long (two minutes) before starting her balance beam routine, contributing to a “psychological war.” Of course, she barks that the “little babies” didn’t feel the pressure of the moment. As if anyone wouldn’t feel the pressure of completing in front of billions. Once again, another pitiful excuse.
It’s understandable that a country will favor their own athletes. However, it’s pathetic when NBC newscasters begin bitterly claiming that the Chinese gymnasts’ scores were way too high and that the judges were too harsh on the Americans. Then snidely suggesting that the Chinese government scouts out little girls at the age of three and throws them into gymnastic concentration camps. And as if that weren’t enough, inviting Bela Karolyi (banned at the 2008 Olympic games) to speak about his theories once more. Absolutely infuriating.
It’s true that everyone should follow the rules, and it’s also true that there must be evidence to support a claim. Some have simply jumped on the bandwagon and started parroting all unwarranted comments mentioned above (as if they were fact) in chatrooms and on blogs. I can say that I have not. Hopefully, the majority can view this situation with a clear mind.
I’m in the process of developing a business plan for a web-based business mainly focused on providing free content via regularly published articles (like a blog) and e-commerce products such as e-books etc. I’d like to launch my website as soon as possible so that I can start building a community and a reputation in my niche, but know very little about the tech side of things. I have purchased a domain name and am fairly knowledgable about self-hosting, but I’d like to power my website using WordPress and Thesis, of which I know very little. Does anyone have a price estimate for how much it should cost to have someone else build me a basic website using Thesis and WordPress? Or would it be fairly straightforward for me to just teach myself? I guess I’m down to whether the time or the money is more valuable.
Do you agree with the foreign policy that our government is currently using towards manipulating other countries foreign policies to favor ours? The CIA since the 60’s has tried to change the political scheme of countries by financing Military Coops or otherwise known as “golpes de estado” against Venezuela and Chile. They manipulate counties like Mexico and others that are in process of developing but are being held down because of the US foreign policy. I love my country, but documents are out there that show all this, what would you say if you knew that our CIA is out there manipulating the worlds countries? Conspiracy, or truth…open discussion……

Hey guys.
I’m currently testing out WordPress (.org) doftware to make a custom blog for my mother’s business (photography). WordPress (.com) did not work out, because it doesn’t have plugin features and (free) CSS editing it’s themes.
Now, see, I’m only fourteen. I’m a fourteen year young boy. I am no hardcore “coder” but I can make my way around things with onloine tutorials, intuition, and cut & paste. I’m trying, right now, to make a dummy site to see if I’m even CAPABLE of making a custom theme for WordPress. Now, I have no money. I have no choice but to choose a free (and crap-ish) web host.
I have used the wonderous tool called google and worked my way down to two web hosts. Tell me which sounds best. As a note, I want to install WordPress, so please tell me which one will allow me to do so:
http://www.oxyhost.com/
http://www.joolo.com/index.jsp
Do not let either website’s appealing templates persuade you, but tell me froma technical point of view. Thx!
P.S. Ca someone please tell me, also, what features I will need for WordPress that can be found in either hosts: do I need PHP, MYSQL, etc?
I am developing a blog site. What do you like best for the creation of blogs: wordpress, typepad, something else.
Not looking for a simple solution, but something more sophisticated.
here’s more.
I’m looking for a platform that will do all the standard stuff, including photo, video, podcast, etc. RSS
I am developing a blog site. Who do you like best for that sort of thing: wordpress, typepad, someone else.
Not looking for a simple solution, but something more sophisticated.
Hi. So there’s a lot of languages or terms that I see that are Web development or web design related. (my goal is to be somewhere in between – like a Front End developer). I am wondering if you could advise me which ones out of these –>
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Jquery, JSTL, J2EE – struts, tiles, JSP’s, etc., servers, XML, MYSQL, PHP, WordPress,
Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator, Dreamweaver
….which are most widely necessary and most widely demanded, and in what Order if any should someone learn these? THanks!!
Hi, I have little to no experience at using API’s and I want to hire a programmer to develop me a wordpress plugin. The thing is I stumbled upon a Google page that allowed people to sign up and use the Google Adwords API (I would need this for my plugin) but from what I could understand I have to pay to use it. Could somebody please tell me in plain simple to understand english how this all works, What am I paying for? Google state they charge $0.25 per API units used but I’m confused as to how or what an API unit is? Any information to better understand how this all works would be great. For your referrance here is where I read the confusing information:
