Hello, I am driving myself crazy trying to figure out what CMS to learn. I am very proficient in PHP, HTML, and JavaScript but my problem is, I haven’t done a lot of work with content management systems. I have done a couple custom templates with WordPress but the last one was about a year ago. I need a CMS that will allow me to take any site design(hopefully) and develop it with a CMS and I dont have as much time as I would like to learn it, so I need one that is relatively easy to learn and has a nice user friendly client side.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have been leaning towards Silverstripe or Joomla. Is Silverstripe easier to learn?
Is there a better choice?

I started a project after lots of people responded to one of my blog. I just constructed an idea that all the people that are interested can participate in a site much like wikipedia, a site where volunteers edit and develop it. The project includes a lot of photos, essays and a forum like discussions. The truth is I don’t have the money and the time for a domain name like project.com, and I don’t really know anything about web page design.

So what I am looking for is some ideas. If I create a wordpress.com page can you give me some good Themes that wouldn’t exactly look like a blog and more like a normal website.

Last summer I got kicked out of camp Charis Hills for going into the bathroom with my ex girlfriend & making out with her. I also showed her my penis & she showed me her vagina. It’s a long story. We were both 16 btw.
Well after the camp director James Cleland got the information he wanted out of me through hard questioning he was very mean to me & said lots of stuff that has mentally scarred me to this day. He compared me to a dog for masturbating 3x a day, he called me a sexual predator for asking her to show me her vagina, he didnt accept my apology when I told him I hope his camp doesnt get shut down for what I did, & all of that is just an example of what he said & did to me. He is a inhuman piece of ****. Oh he also told me that I was gonna get arrested for attempting to touch her vagina.
The camp founder Rand Southard is the one that drove me to a half way point between that camp & my house & he is almost as inhuman as James except he had his anger more under control. He told me I could get arrested for looking at porn while underage & for having sex while underage. He said that all people that have had sex with a minor, including minors are child abusers. He said lots of stuff I have developed many responses for.

Now I was scared to death when they did the stuff they did to me & I was humbled as low as can be so I didnt have much to say then. But now I’m back to normal.

About a week later my mom called them to try to get our money back, they took $1,000, she told them that she has lawyers incase they are needed & the camp founder’s wife Colleen told her that she has threatened them & was mean to my mom & my mom got the message that we aren’t getting any money back & if we tried to contact them again they will sue us for over $10,000.

I got post traumatic stress disorder from that place. Now if I see anyone that looks like Michael Moore (the director looked like him) or see or deal with anything else I went through there it gives me the same feeling that scarred Vietnam veterans get when they see violence. I feel that I need to avenge what they did.

Now a week or so ago I sent James a long message telling him off on what he did & gave him a warning not to bring any lawsuit bullshit into it. But then Rand sent my mom a message asking her if she knew about it. BTW Rand has messaged my mom multiple times before about stuff I put on the internet like I posted the horrible experience at Charis Hills on wordpress to tell the whole story of what happened & he told my mom about it & I had to take it off. He also told her about my other blogs but my mom never responded because she’s scared of a lawsuit.

I want to send Rand a long message telling him off on what he did & I wanna post warning comments on their facebook fan pages about why the camp is terrible. Also when James got the long message he didn’t respond, he just blocked me. I also wanna send him a message on another account asking why he didnt respond.

Could they sue me if I contact them again? What should I do to avenge what they did? I cant just forget about it or put it behind me, I’ve already tried that. My mom has forbidden me to say anything else to them & to leave them alone & she also thinks that putting that stuff behind me is a piece of cake. I want revenge.

I’ve been wearing a fake piercing there (with a spring) and I really like how I look with it.

However I have a small keloid scar on my left shoulder from an injection I got from when I was about 6 years old. However, I’ve gotten plenty of injections since (lol) and I’ve had surgery on my right arm to remove something, and they’ve never grew into keloids.

So I was wondering; would it be safe to get a lip piercing like that, or would I develop a keloid? I’ve been Googling it on the Internet and I can’t find anything saying keloids there :(

I want to develop a web site with a series of downloadable PDF documents, with the list of PDFs growing by time. Right now its small, like 20 documents but more and more documents will be added. The web site contains pages showing the thumbnail and description of the documents, and links for user to download. Do I need content management system for this so I can just keep adding documents/contents in the future without messing with the website?

I’m interested in starting my own blog, but want to have the option to advertise. I will need my own website as opposed to wordpress or other free services.

I’m in the process of hiring a professional to develop and design my site, but I want to have a benchmark rate to compare against.

The work includes:

3. Design site – simple site including following functions:
- categories, search, text / image boxes, header, ad placement areas

Over the years, I’ve developed a bunch of re-usable code which I recently bundled up into a web application framework. Not only did I incorporate many open source solutions (smarty templating system, tinymce editor, prototype-scriptaculous libraries), but I also added my own custom-built features like CMS generation tools, social networking tools, blogging system, discussion forums etc…

I find that it takes me less time to build something new with my own framework than to study the plugins of another framework which may or may not do things “exactly” the way I want. I’ve been burnt in the past when I tried to integrate phpbb + wordpress + joomla into one seamless application. So instead, I’ve built my own framework which has plugins to the “essential” features of each of the mentioned platforms.

There are a lot of people out there who say “you should not re-invent the wheel”. I generally agree. But the birth of my own framework is at odds with this rule, even though it’s been extremely valuable to me in my freelance work.

What would you have done if a customer asks, “I want a website that has blog, discussion forum, paypal integration, social networking, newsletter mail outs and the ability for users to rate local neighbourhood restaurants on a 5 star scale”? My own web application framework is in a better position to deliver such an application than wordpress or joomla.

So when should you create your own web application framework?

I have couple questions about open source software like WordPress.

Is it legal to copy the code from WordPress and produce different kind of blogging hosting application on the net?

If not then is it very complicated to develop one? Because I’m trying to find an offshore programmer to develop one for me so I can start my own blog hosting platform. I thought that it is possible to just copy from WordPress so the production cost would be much cheaper.

Someone already offered me $4000-$5000 for the blogging platform, is it a good deal?

Keep in mind, this camera is from 1963, so I assume film availability is scarce.

I want to develop a site/blog with the use of some blogging sofrware. I know some of them like wordpress,Movable type,Type pad etc., But what i need is – the user should able to upload photo’s/images from his/her local system which reflects in the site/blog only after the admin authentication.

I am looking to develop an Application in such a way that I can have an API for it making additional module integration into the software seamless. For example: I really love wordpress and how the plugins integrate well with the application.
