For a beginner blogger what site is best to use? So far I’ve heard of Blogger, Blogspot, and WordPress. Which one would be a great starter site and why? Also, could you give me the links to any blogs that you own :) Plz & Thanx
I am a beginner in web blogging, which would you recommend? I hope someone would be willing to help me out and give me some tips
Im trying to learn how to set up different types of websites, I don’t know any code, I want a regular domain name a websitename.com or .org or .net, how would someone go about doing this? Can anyone please recommend any good template sites? I thing I liked weebly.com and wordpress, but it seemed like you couldn’t get a regular domain name. Please, some one give me a basic overview, and it I would appreciate it. Thanks.
i would like to build my own website, i would like to know where can i get a web domain that already has templates. i need templates because i’m just a beginner with NO programing knowledge. i am looking for a web domain (using .com) …but easy to use like blogspot or wordpress with those TEMPLATES available.
OH MAN… I’ve spent at least 2 hours trying to figure out how to use WordPress to make a blog. I downloaded v. 2.3.3 but don’t know PHP, nore do I have a domain name or web host.
Any sort of step by step beginner process would be the best because I am a noob. I looked at the WordPress instructions and all it did was confuse me more… so please don’t suggest that.
Your reply would be VERY VERY VERY appreciated!
Thank you.
Hi can someone who is familiar with WordPress pls help me out with this!
I know that wordpress was initially made for blogging, but I’m not interested in that at this stage. I am a beginner and all I want to do is to get a 3 page static html website up live. Here’s what I have done so far:
Got my hosting server (godaddy)
Downloaded wordpress.
Created a MySQL database on the host server and connected wordpress to it.
Designed a simple web page on Fireworks.
Converted said design to HTML with an attached Stylesheet. (called index.html & style.css)
Typed in the comment on the stylesheet so that wordpress knows its a theme.
This is where I am stuck. Can anyone recommend a good tutorial or tell me what I should do next – I notice that the default theme has lots of php files. Do I need them if my site will have no blog and will just be static html pages? I am new to php so only know what it stands for.
I’m doing a static html site first just to get my head round wordpress.
Thanks guys!
I am a beginner photographer and have set up a blog to document a Project 365 photo a day project.
What is the best way to publicize the blog? Any tips on getting it more out there?

Can you help me design a website? Looking to build a fansite/website through WordPress with a blog as the homepage. Also want a gallery, forum, ads, etc. No beginners please. Post an email address and we can discuss this into further detail. Thank you.
OK so when it comes to working with the web, I am super slow. I don’t even understand half the terminology out there and i desperately need a webpage. I decided to start a basic one with wordpress for now, eventually telling myself I would create my own from scratch. I know how to design it, but sadly, I don’t have an effing clue how to put it up on the web and make it all work. I’ve tried to read the help sections and search for answers, but all the help I can find are from people who assume you know what the hell you’re doing, and I don’t. I need help from the beginning to end. I need all the basic info that most people assume I would already know. I went to design school but they never taught us anything about web design and now it’s killing me.
To get back to what I was saying about wordpress, I ended up finding a theme that I think would work well for what I want to put up (it wasn’t through wordpress, it was one of those best free themes for wordpress pages) and it gave me VERY basic instructions on how to put it up. It was then that I realized (through much searching) that I needed an FTP, and I needed to download a newer version of WordPress (although I don’t really remember downloading it in the first place) and I need to do all these things. All I know is I want to put this them up on wordpress and then upload all my images, and I don’t know how. I’m getting so frustrated and I just really need some help. I don’t really know anyone who’s super knowledgeable with web design, so does anyone here have any tips for me or know of any websites that give very easy to understand basic instructions for absolute beginners? Or books for that matter??
I really really appreciate any help, and please don’t leave any smart ass comments. If this question isn’t worth your time, please don’t leave a comment. Thank you in advance for helping me, I really appreciate it!!
BTW, I’m working with a Mac. And I have CS3 with Flash and Dreamweaver, just in case you needed to know.
I found the service http://themespress.com but $10 per theme becomes really expensive when I want to convert like 20 HTML templates to WordPress themes. Is there an easy way to do the same thing as the site does? (use custom tags to define WordPress sections)
I’ve been told time and again that you just have to do it all manually and with PHP, but it seems like there must be an easier way. And the theme tutorials I’ve found seem great for simple themes, not something exceptional. I need like a “beginners guild to professional themes” or something.
Thanks for any help. And WordPress 3 is almost up to 2.5 million downloads! =)
Here’s my site if anyone is curious http://viperamped.com
I would really like to make nice pictures in Photoshop with some effects. Not very professional pics. What are some tools you advise me to use? And do you know any beginners tutorials?
10 points for best answer!
Some examples of pictures I wish to make like:

replace the (dot) with a ( . )
NOTE: THE BLOG IS NOT MINE. I DON’T OWN ANYTHING FROM IT.
I’ve been looking around trying to find a good set of themes for WordPress and Gallery2. I’m using the WP2G plugin, but the default themes in Gallery just don’t seem to work well. I’m a beginner at this and also need some guidance on how to actually install the theme once I find one.

I’ve tried WordPress and its a pain. Is there anything out there that is a little more user friendly for beginners to put a blog on their site. I am on Yahoo web hosting.

This is driving me nuts. I’m a beginner with WordPress and can’t figure out why the text is appearing below the image. I’ve tried images of different sizes and even copying code from people using the same template. Nothing is fixing it! Any ideas?
In the process of building this site:
http://www.boycottsports.com/
I’m starting a website with a friend, and neither of us know much HTML or web design. Would starting out with WordPress be a good alternative?
I know its mostly for blogs, but you can also customize it and run a small website as well.. The idea is that we start out with WP and if we ever need to upgrade or anything we would hire a web design company to transfer it to another platform and make it more professional..
Doe this sound feasible? Or are there other avenues I can take? I’ve tried Joomla but it was too confusing..
Hi,
I recently installed wordpress on my home computer and would like to transfer it to a live site (as I now have a host site running).
I found some instructions here:
http://www.jestro.com/web-design/convert-local-wordpress-xampp-installation-into-live-site/
but I find these hard to follow.
Can anyone help? I’m a beginner at this.
I am thinking of creating a database driven website – call it an ‘imdb lite’; not for movies but for some of my other general interests. I want to do it myself and not use services like blogger, wordpress or the other one that imitates wikipedia. I want to start learning the coding skills necessary but i am not sure where to start or what is the bare minimum i need to know just to get some content up. I can always learn and adapt later.
I have used frontpage but that was a long time ago. I know a bit of html but after a bit of research I have read about of php, xhtml, java/javascript… etc and i am not sure which of them i should spend time on. On the database side I know of MySql but only in name and have never used it. There might be something else easier to learn or use for a complete novice.
My local college only offers part time courses in Coldfusion, frontpage and Flash…so i dont think that is quite what i am looking for.
Thanks, any helpful answers will be appreciated. There are just so many things i could learn but i just want to take on the barest minimum to get my project off the ground into cyberspace and then later, a few years down the road i could learn something fancy and make the site(s) pretty
thanks again
