I’m hosting a WordPress blog using Webserver on a Stick (WOS). It runs completely on my machine and is for my own use only, so no internet connection is required. Still, I usually have an internet connection going anyway.

However, I still get messages within WordPress about updates, and a big part of that is security features. Do I have to be concerned about this? Is it possible for others to hack in somehow even though I’m not “broadcasting”?

Hi im in the process of finishing up my website and almost ready to publish it but im kinda stuck on something.

I currently have CuteNews v1.4.6 (http://cutephp.com/) as my content management system because I would like to blog on my site & I was thinking about buying the license because I want the site to be professional and don’t want the credits listed at the bottom BUT im not for sure if CuteNews is secure enough. Im scared that someone maybe able to hack my website.

Does anyone know if CuteNews is secure enough for my site? I want to make sure that buying the license will be worth it. If its not then I will try to switch over to WordPress. I originally wanted to use WordPress but it was too confusing but If Cutenews isn’t good enough then I will find a way.

So I should use a framework..ok..i’ll choose codeigniter.
I should also use an ide..ok..i’ll choose netbeans.
I need a blog and other stuff so I need a CMS..ok..i’ll choose wordpress.

My question is how on earth do you get all these tools to work together in harmony? Is it possible? Does any combination of ide,framework, and cms play nice together? For example, will I get code completion and debugging for codeigniter in netbeans? Then can I get codeigniter in wordpress without hacking away at core files?

Hi there,

I’ve recently had a problem with being hacked through wordpress and now the infection is on my computer. Everything on my server is now clean but I’m having the following problems on my computer:

- Firefox constantly crashes (I assume to stop the threat)
- AVG won’t update
- Google is redirecting to spam sites
- Other internet related programs such as Firezilla and Thunderbird encounter errors and are forced to close.

I’ve downloaded so many malware and virus removers over the past two days, and performed a full system scan with them all but the problems are still persisting.

Here are the ones I have run:

- malwarebytes
- AVG (without the latest updates)
- Super anti-spy
- Avast
- cc cleaner
- Norman Malware cleaner

I’ve now also run hijackthis this but don’t understand what to do with the results. Here was the log that I got from that:

I need help ASAP please! Whenever i view a draft and look at its preview, A different website appears! I recently noticed when i checked my header.php on theme that it has a whole bunch of links about viagra???? i removed them yesterday and everything else seem to be fine but when i edited a post, i saw a diff website in the preview frame, how can i remove it??

@ Bala, yes I do own the site are you familiar with wordpress? I have checked the domain and it is not being redirected, as you can see if you type in nautical-twilight.com it goes directly to my site but then, when i edit a post and check its preview i see a different site instead of the post, ive checked my files and i cant seem to find it, all i know is it is an iframe but i could not locate it to remove the script…:(

Just need some advice from Front end web people out there.

I want to be in a position where I can get a job as a corporate web designer, then maybe go freelance later. But with SO much out there to learn in the world of web design and SO many people doing the same thing I want to make sure I am focusing on the right areas by getting a niche skill and not wasting my time and energy (though I guess any study isn’t a waste).

What I want to know is…. am I heading in the right direction? Is it worth cracking on with wordpress (is it the way forward?) or is there something I am missing?

Here’s what I got under my belt so far…

XHTML – No problem
CSS – pretty good, and getting better.

WordPress – I’m getting much better at creating my own themes and websites in wordpress by hardcoding with php.

Pretty good skills with Flash (with AS 2) .Photoshop.Fireworks

Can check forms and some basic dhtml using Javascript.

Oh – just one more question – If a client doesn’t need a blog, is it ok to still use wordpress as a CMS?

Hi somebody doesnt like me and they have targeted me again I had a php exploit installed on my server i thought it was my fault using nulled software but I deleted the whole server and started again

Now Ive found the exploit again and i dont know how they done it or why Can somebody pease tell me how this thing works and how i can protect myself from it.

Im not a big player i was making $ per day before this thing come along I try not piss other people off and this is what i get targeted twice I am not sure why. Im not making big money. here is the current exploit I am finding it on my wordpress blogs. The last one was similar but it was unstoppable and spread though out the server

If someone can help me here this is the only place i can think that somecould help me I have been coming here since 2006 i would be grateful and would repay the favour in future

My host says it was a hacker i found the file in a wordprees install to start with it was in includes in classes with the following addition

After editing my blog I made a few silly changes

Under Settings in my WP admin I believe I did some silly changes…….

WordPress address (URL) > http://website.com/blog..I change TO >> http://www.website.com/blog

and

Blog address (URL) > http://website.com/blog.. I change TO >> http://www.website.com/blog

After doing this change I cannot log into my blog!!!!
My blog is not hacked…..I can still see it via Cpanel….My username and PW are correct..I double check them 1000 times…..no actually 11 times..

Now to recover my stuff ….I click on ‘lost your password’ and I enter my email address…it says….There is no user registered with that email address ..thats horse shit……

But when I enter the username….it says….’Check your e-mail for the confirmation link’…….so I am still waiting for the email to reach my inbox…its more than 48 hours

So I am stuck here…..I cannot access my blog to edit the site at all….I want to strongly believe that the changes I made to domain name under settings cause this havoc……..I can be wrong…..
